7:30am Gather with your fellow travelers are Capitol Tours office on Leaphart Road to prepare for departure to Staunton, VA at 8:00am. There will be a stop along the way for lunch on your own.
4:00pm Arrive in Staunton VA at the Hotel 24 South for check-in. This historic hotel was built in 1924 and has lots of historic charm and character. Have some free time to rest and relax before dinner and show this evening.
5:00pm Have dinner this evening at the hotel (included).
7:00pm After dinner, walk next door to the American Shakespeare Center’s Black Friar’s Playhouse for tonight’s performance of “As You Like It” at 7:30pm. The playhouse is the world's first re-creation of Shakespeare's original indoor theatre. At the conclusion of the performance, you will return to the hotel.
Saturday, June 13 – Breakfast is included at the hotel.
9:30am Board the coach and travel the short distance to the depot.
10:00am Boarding begins on the Virginia Scenic Railroad’s Allegheny Special.
10:30am All aboard!!! Experience the charm and beauty of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley as the Alleghany Special ventures westward from historic Staunton through beautiful farmland of the Shenandoah Valley, on a destination bound for the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. While on board you will be served a delicious lunch. The train makes a brief stop in Goshen, VA where you will see the engine travel past the passenger cars to change position to take us back to Staunton.
1:30pm Upon return to the depot, board the coach and travel to the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum. At 2:00pm, take a guided tour of The Manse and a self-guide tour of the museum.
4:30pm Return to the hotel or continue exploring the area on your own. Dinner this evening is on your own at one of the many nearby restaurants.
Sunday, June 14 – Breakfast is included at the hotel.
9:00am Time to board the motorcoach for the ride back to South Carolina. There will be a stop for lunch on your own.
5:00pm Estimated arrival at Capitol Tours.
