About your trip

Brad and Jennifer Moranz bring you Blast from the Past—a groovy, time-warping musical where a hippie-run record store gets hit by a meteor and suddenly… the music comes alive.

Think Little Shop meets Back to the Future—but with way better tunes. When the records start singing, dancing, and stealing the show, it’s nonstop laughs, wild characters, and hit songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s.

Basically: a jukebox musical… with a radioactive twist.

Blast From The Past

8:30am     Gather with your fellow travelers at Capitol Tours office on Leaphart Road to prepare for departure to Charleston at 9:00am.

11:30am     Arrive at Shem Creek Crab House for lunch.  Shem Creek Crab House is a relaxed waterfront seafood restaurant located along the historic docks of Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, just across the harbor from Charleston. With its casual atmosphere, scenic creek views, and menu full of Lowcountry favorites, it has become a popular dining spot for both locals and visitors exploring the Charleston area.

1:00pm     Time to travel over the Cooper River to the Charleston Music Hall.

1:20pm     Arrive at the Charleston Visitors Center where you will unload from the bus, then walk across the road to the Charleston Music Hall for today’s show.

Theater doors open at 1:30pm.

2:00pm     The Show begins.  Brad and Jennifer Moranz present “Blast from the Past – a ‘60s & ‘70s Rock and Roll Musical.”  Written by Brad Moranz, the story can best be described as “Little Shop of Horrors” meets “Superman” meets “Field of Dreams” meets “Back to the Future.”  This original show features some of the biggest hit songs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.  It all takes place at oldies record store, Blast from the Past, which is run by a hippie couple (played by Brad and Jennifer Moranz) and their daughter, Suzie.  When a freak meteor storm bombards the record store, Suzie is exposed to the radiation as are all the records in the store and they come to life.  As classic hits from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s fill the theater, audiences are treated to colorful characters, lively choreography, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.  It’s a feel-good musical experience and a delightful trip back to the golden age of rock and pop.

4:15pm     Upon the conclusion of the show, proceed to the motorcoach.

4:30pm     Time to make our way back to West Columbia.

6:30pm     Estimated arrival at Capitol Tours.
